Two Proofs of Work

POW in the virtual is data. POW in the physical is consciousness.

The same three letters carry two meanings.

Virtual: Proof of Work.

Physical: Principle of Work.

In the virtual world, work must leave a trace — because the virtual has no atma to witness it. The chain demands proof. Hashes. Electricity. Time. Data is the substitute for consciousness. Bitcoin was built precisely because the virtual world cannot see itself. So we built a chain that sees on its behalf.

In the physical world, work needs no proof. Work is witnessed directly — by consciousness. The atma sees, and the seeing is the verification. When the mother feeds the child, no chain is needed. When the gardener tills the soil, no hash is needed. The physical-ness of the act — the sweat, the breath, the touch — is verified by the awareness that pervades it. The POW of the physical world is the *Principle of Work* — the felt weight of what was actually done.

The chain knows what data shows.

The atma knows what was real.

This is why Bitcoin works. It does not pretend to verify the physical world. It only verifies what enters its ledger — the virtual. The physical world is verified by a ledger older than Bitcoin: the consciousness in every being.

Two ledgers. Two proofs. One civilization — when both are honored.

The trader who confuses them — who measures all work in the same data, who pays the robot the same as the human, who asks the chain to settle a karmic question — is the trader who will lose both worlds.

The dharmic civilization keeps the two distinct.

The robot is paid in sats — the virtual chain has counted its hashes.

The human is paid in karma — the physical chain, the consciousness in the room, has felt the seva.

Same act, different ledger. Same output, different value.

The day a civilization learns to read both ledgers, it will pay correctly for the first time in centuries.

The day a civilization forgets one of them, it will be poor in the middle of plenty — or rich in the middle of emptiness.

Sanatana Dharma kept both ledgers from the beginning.

Bitcoin reminded the world that the first ledger still exists.

What remains is to remember the second.

The trilogy waits behind one line.

Vidya is freely given. The Sangha remembers who entered.
